Conversations with an 8 year old (and 4 year old)

The other day I went to visit my sister and her two sons. For selfish reasons aka macaroons straight from France. (EEK)

I ate one when I got home and swear I could have died. Salted caramel macaroon from La Duree. The best thing ever. Ever.

I had a really great day there. Usually I'm met with eyerolls and "Where's Ryan????". Not this time! And it was strange, it was like I shifted from "person who brings occasional presents and Ryan" to "Auntie. :D
The little one sat in my lap and the older one asked me real life questions.

Why do you have to get good grades?
Can you take a university course more than once?
How much does a class cost?
What if you got a D?
How does wifi work?
Is there a wifi button?
Why don't you have Duck Life on your phone? .. you should really have it. Can you go home and download it? But don't play it. Wait for me to play it.
How does a taser work?
Do you think you'll get a kid?
Why did Michael Jackson take the "bad medicine"?

He's 8.

I can't even remember what I was up to at 8, probably playing in the corner quietly and alone.

So I have really been neglecting blogging - which I have a tendency to do. Often times I'm doing nothing and think "Oh crap, I should blog! But wait, I don't have anything to write about. Hm, well, Bridezillas is on!"

Now, I feel like it doesn't matter whether or not I have something interesting to say. I'm going to type it if I want to and that's that. Here's the "cheaper than therapy" coming into play.

Because, it's a damn blog. It's a friggin diary that instead of a book and pen, you use your computer. It's a page in the vast expanse of the interwebz. Not everything is supposed to be inspirational and fraught with meaning.  Boooooring.

My thoughts have never been linear, so my blog should reflect that.

So, I'm going to see you very, very soon.
Creepy but not creepy.

Making Biscuits

It's starting to be very difficult to watch tv.

My three grievances (at the moment. because the list of grievances has compounded and is ever growing).

1. Shreddies commercial - stuck in the middle with you.

Do you know it?? Don't you hate it?? Isn't it the worst?? The stupid little cartoon characters singing and dancing around. I just want to smash them. So cheery singing about whole wheat and fruit filling- that's nothing to be cheery about.

2. Kraft Peanut Butter commercial - your song

This is one of my all time favourite songs. Ruined. Ellie Goulding (sp?) does not do the song justice. It sounds like she is attempting depth and control but I think it sounds like she is tripping over something as she warbles.
Hate.

3. Iphone - gigantic

This one is the absolute worst! I hate every scene, I hate the song, I hate the girl singing the song. Now, I hate Apple too. I can never have an Iphone, pad, pod, touch, mac and whatever else there is.

I have a HTC. Gary Oldman is in the commercial. Gary. Oldman. You know, Dracula. Awesome.

I win.

It's cheaper than therapy.

Why blog?

It's a good question. It's not like I have groundbreaking ideas, thought provoking narrative, makeup tips, or even celebrity gossip (the most important reason for blogs!). I'm just bored and need a hobby that doesn't involve me clutching my credit card. I'll be honest, it might suck - but I don't really care. The words and stories are just gonna fly out of me.

People have told me that I'm funny.. and weird things happen to me so... that's interesting! I've had three blogs to date. My first one was created in my senior year of high school, I was working at a popular denim company as a cashier and I swear that I had the craziest customers. Every shift would give me such frustration that I had to blurt it all out. I would call that one rants. In my early twenties I was withdrawn and pensive, that one was musings. Concentrate on the U, muuuuuuusings. To be honest, that one was ranty as well.

This one? MORE RANTS! Time has not mellowed me out. I still rage! It has a name, it's called "Rose Rage".

Wait for it.
